leHACK 21 – The Singularity

leHACK had a new edition from 27/06/2025 to 29/06/2025.
This time was the moment for a new theme and design.
This edition topic was THE SINGULARITY, ACQUIRED HUMAN OBSOLESCENCE
We convoked the occurrences of Artificial Intelligence in the pop-culture and quickly realized the first ever was the 1927 Fritz Lang Film: Metropolis; almost 100 years ago.
The MASCHINENMENSH, aka Maria, is an artificial intelligence deemed perfect and better than humans. The plot, however thickens when it reveals it’s rogue nature.
That story resound in the contemporary debate about AGI ending the humanity and other pop-culture references:
Fritz Lang with his Maschinenmensch in Metropolis, Stanley Kubrick with HAL in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Isaac Asimov in his Robots series, or Philip K. Dick in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the 1983 WARGAME Film,
all sought to warn us: the rise of self-aware artificial intelligence
poses an existential threat to humanity. You may build them with the
best intentions or to solve a problem, but even when you control the
parameters, logical flaws creep in. You just can’t control the outcomes
in very complex meta-systems. Even less so if you don’t fully understand
why they work.
We shipped the website in a terminal, and stripped it to look like a bash interface.
We also designed al the Merch’ and derived products.
